Directions:
Serve Riceland extra long grain rice as a side dish or in main dishes or salads. Its longer grains produce light, fluffy rice that remains separate when cooked.
Use this quick method for 3 cups of extra long grain rice.
To retain vitamins, do not rinse before or drain after cooking.
Stovetop: Combine in a 2-quart saucepan: 1 cup rice. 2 cups water. 1 tsp. salt, optional. 1 Tbsp. oil or margarine, optional. 2. Stir lightly; Bring to a rolling boil and reduce heat to simmer (low boil). Cover with a tight-fitting lid and simmer for 15 minutes. 3. Remove from heat and allow to stand covered for 5 minutes. For best results do not lift lid while cooking; steam cooks rice.
Microwave: Refer to the owner’s manual for cooking instructions regarding your specific model. A general guide follows. Combine all ingredients in a deep 2-quart covered microwave-safe dish (if using plastic wrap, vent slightly). Microwave at 100% (high) power for 5 minutes. Reduce setting to 50% (medium) power and microwave for an additional 15 minutes. Remove the dish and allow it to stand covered for 5-10 minutes. Fluff with a fork.
